PVTA offers free, one-on-one Travel Training for seniors and people with mobility impairments who are motivated to learn how to safely and independently use the public bus system.

Trainers will personally show you how to get from your house to a selected destination and back, or how to use a fixed-route bus system. Sessions are primarily field-based and are conducted in a series of steps leading to independent travel. Trainees select their destinations which typically include: work, medical appointments, schools, shopping malls, and other recreation sites. An instructor will stay with you until you feel comfortable and confident riding the bus.

Travel Training Benefits:

* Provides access to safe/low-cost transportation
* Increases self-confidence
* Promotes healthy living by helping people stay active in the community.

Travel Training is provided free-of-charge except for your bus fare while training is taking place. To be eligible for the program you must: have a residence and destination on or near a public bus route; be able to get to/from a bus stop; meet agency admission criteria; and successfully complete a pre-mobility training assessment.
